去年年底在NYC开幕的The New Museum of Contemprary Art.

虽说是MOCA的新馆.不过名字就叫New Museum啦.

由日本人设计的七层盒子.异军突起的程度.都可以做NYC的新地标了.

"In December 2007, the New Museum opened the doors to its new location on 235 Bowery, at Prince Street. This new facility, designed by the Tokyo-based firm Sejima + Nishizawa/SANAA and the New York-based firm Gensler, has greatly expanded the Museum’s exhibitions and space. In March 2008, the museum's new building was named one of the architectural seven wonders by Conde Nast Traveler."

Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Sometimes called OLA cathedral for short.

It's designed by the Spanish Architect Rafeal Moneo who once won Pritzker.

Most buildings built in C.A need to resist the potential damage brought by future earthquakes. So they all have protections and aseismatic structures. Since earthquakes frequently take place in C.A, the old and smaller cathedral is seriously deteriorate in one of them. Probably the 1994 Northridge Earthquake.

" Every detail of construction was specified to last approximately five hundred years."

"Using elements of postmodern architecture, the church and the Cathedral Center feature a series of acute and obtuse angles. There is an absence of right angles. Contemporary statuaries and appointments decorate the complex. Prominent of these appointments are the bronze doors and the statue called The Virgin Mary, all adorning the entrance and designed by Robert Graham."
